A DTA is kind of like an alternative to “work” for the Developmentally Disabled. It is also commonly referred to as an Adult Day Program. Instead of
coming to the facility and being responsible for fulfilling a task, or set of tasks, each day (like
most of us have to do), we provide a fun, safe and structured environment in which their main
responsibility is to enjoy themselves while participating in the offered activities. Our main
responsibility is to teach them how to appropriately interact with each other and the
community, and to help teach life skills specific to the needs of each participant, through the
use of Positive Reinforcement behavioral modification techniques.
Tumbleweed Compadre's main facility is located in the central part of the city at Speedway and Alvernon, 3957 E. Speedway Suite #203, to be exact. The location is perfect for what we do. We are located within easy walking distance of two major bus routes, we are less than one block from the bowling alley and can get to most places in town within about 15-20 minutes, giving us the maximum flexibility in choosing activities. We are located in a nice, well maintained office park far removed from the busy traffic on Speedway. We have big open floor plan for maximum participant interaction, built in lockers and central A/C and heating, so the climate is always nice.
If our program sounds like it may be a good fit for you, or someone in your life, please feel free
to give us a call so we can answer any questions you may have and schedule a tour of the
program. At Tumbleweed Compadre we are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our
participants, and by providing the tools and structure necessary, we believe the difference
made will eventually mean no difference at all.
